Elle and Dakota Fanning Featured in ‘Vogue’ August 2011

Vogue’s August 2011 issue is devoted to women of all ages, from thirteen-year-old Elle Fanning to 96-year-old Ida Keeling. This time, Elle poses together with her 17-year-old sister Dakota, wearing retro clothes and flaunting their shiny blond curls. In the interview, the young actresses talk about their childhood, life spent in the spotlight, college life, business and fashion.

Dakota, whose first role is the one in the NBC prime-time drama ER, states that this is the life they have always known. “I’ve been working since I was six, Elle since two. What you grow up with is what you become used to:”
When asked about what they felt always being in the spotlight, Dakota said that, “When you choose to do this with your life, you’re in the public and people watch you. But I’d rather do this than not.”
Dakota’s little sister, Elle, who was named the new brand ambassador for Marc by Marc Jacobs campaign, seems to be the only one, who loves fashion and even designs her own clothing in the spare time. “I am in the normal range when it comes to clothes. Elle is not normal,” Dakota told the magazine.
Talking about her first couture show in Paris, Elle says that, “It’s like a dream. They said it was the latest — or one of the latest — times a show ever started! The theme was ‘midnight in Paris,’ with shiny stars over the Place Vendôme. They re-created it, but with Coco on top of the column—everyone knew it was her. It was amazing.”

Both sisters are much occupied in their business now. Elle is getting ready for her role in ‘We Bought a Zoo’ and ‘Twixt Now’, and also works in a couple of new projects, which are ‘Vivaldi’, ‘Frankenweenie’, and ‘Anne Chambers’. As for Dakota, she’ll appear in the final ‘Twilight’ movie and is working on ‘Very Good Girls’, ‘Mississippi Wild’, and ‘Now Is Good’. Besides, Dakota is preparing for the college, as she was accepted at NYU where she plans studying psychology.
Dakota confesses that she’s both excited and nervous about studying at NYU this September. “It’ll be different and scary but everyone does it!’ she said. ‘And it’ll be nice to have a space that’s just my own. I can have Hello Kitty ice trays and no one can tell me that I can’t.”
